Get Up On The Dance Floor and Headz Up
Double A Side Single
In aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital
Released Monday 24th November 2008
Get Up On The Dance Floor is an infectious dance track which sees George unveil some stunning new steps on a spectacular set featuring the best dance crews in the UK. His signature song is set to storm the charts and go down in history, sampling an eclectic mix of legendary music from iconic eras. The track recreates classics including the rock ‘n’ roll sound of ‘Jailhouse Rock’, electro beats of Snap’s ‘The Power’ and the hip hop anthem ‘Jump Around’ by House of Pain. Number one smash ‘It’s Like That’ and Seventies soul hit ‘Play That Funky Music’ also feature in this groundbreaking single that will get you on your feet!
In Headz Up, which infuses hip hop beats with a funky pop sound, George showcases his vocal talents as well as his awesome dance moves. He first performed the track at the BBC Radio 1 Teen Switch event in October to a rapturous reception and the slice of hip hop pop is already a fan favourite.
George said: “I hope my single can help all the kids at Great Ormond Street and support the great work that the staff do. Being able to support a kid’s charity means so much to me and I’m really proud to be involved with these guys. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone there again soon.”
Lesley Miles, Director of Marketing and Communications at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity said: "We are delighted that we have been chosen as the beneficiary of George's Christmas single; it is really generous of George and Sony BMG. We know that the children in the hospital are huge fans of George and we're very grateful that he has taken the time out of his busy schedule to come and visit. It's never great for a child to be in hospital, particularly over the Christmas period so visits like this create a welcome distraction for patients, parents and staff alike."

In his first ever music DVD, Access 2 All Areas, George showcases his vocal talents as well as his awesome dance moves in a series of four brand new music videos; ‘Get Up On The Dance Floor’, ‘Candy Girl’, ‘Headz Up’ and his signature track ‘Singing In The Rain’ which George has already helped soar to the top of the charts.

When George Sampson climbed lampposts and body popped to the tune of “Singing in the Rain” winning ITV’s ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ in a blaze of glory, judge Simon Cowell declared: “You were fantastic before - now you’re phenomenal.” The nation went crazy and phone lines fizzled as millions called in their appreciation.
Here was talent in its purest form, a young real life Billy Elliott who danced his way from humble beginnings to bagging £100,000 and the honour of dancing at the forthcoming Royal Variety performance. 14 year old George was propelled to popularity of Disney-heartthrob proportions with his cheeky little grin and cute butter-wouldn’t-melt face. Georgemania was born.
With his cheeky little grin and cute butter-wouldn’t-melt face – it’s no surprise George Sampson has a fanbase that spans 7 year old girls to grannies. Since dancing his way to the top of Britain’s Got Talent in May 2008, the 15 year old from Warrington has been propelled to popularity of Disney-heartthrob proportions (when the Jonas Brothers flew over for the Camp Rock Premiere in the UK, they arrived to swarms of screaming girls 10 rows deep – and guess what? They were all wearing ‘George Sampson’ badges).
He’s an internet sensation – a competition on Bebo to find five people to dance with George in his new music video had 5000 hits in the first ten minutes. And he has girls literally fainting at his feet, “One girl passed out when I was on stage!” says a shocked George,”I came off and saw an ambulance – I couldn’t believe I’d done that!”.
